PCI

Peripheral Component Interconnect

A PCI controller card.

PCI is a type of I/O (in/out) bus system interface commonly found on computers today. This interface enables two elements in the computer to communicate and work together. The use of a PCI bus system requires the use of a PCI controller card that must be installed into a PCI bay.

The PCI interface can be used on a number of boards, and is found on some video cards and all sound cards. An improvement is planned for PCI speed, which is expected to soon double from the present 33 MHz, which will make this interface even more desirable.
