Voltage Regulator Module

The VRM tightly controls (regulates) voltage to the processor (CPU). Good quality VRM's are expensive. Motherboard manufacturers are known to sometimes use low-rated, but passable, VRM's.

VRM's are upgradable by obtaining an upgraded BIOS, which allows the use of a faster CPU.
